Recognizing Asu Alonso as an Eagle Chamber Service Star
Recognizing the Eagle Chamber community Service Stars
The Eagle Chamber of Commerce's workforce initiative being administered through its Non-Profit Affiliate, the Eagle Economic Vitality Foundation, is underway, in the form of a Computer Literacy Program. Implementation of a Colorado state grant aims to help educate local native Spanish-speaking citizens with computer literacy skills while elevating their leveragability in the local workforce market. Upon graduation, students seeking employment will be greeted by local employers that are offering jobs. This workforce initiative exemplifies the Eagle Chamber's commitment to enhance the economic vitality of the community by connecting workers with employers while improving the lives of individual community members and contributing to workforce solutions.
Providing individual attention when appropriating cultural support is essential for building trust while honoring the unique experiences and perspectives of each student. Select individuals have been carefully chosen as classroom coaches to ensure that communication exchanges are respectful, meaningful and provide the opportunity for individualized guidance, when needed. These coach connections also promotes open and reliable dialogue through a liaisoning relationship between the students and program administration.
Driven to contribute to the betterment of our community, Asu Alonso of Eagle Valley Commercial readily assimilated into her role for the original creation, development and progress of the program. Asu's purposeful dedication to the program is demonstrated through her leadership in advancing the common goals of the initiative. Asu cultivates a path to provide support that empowers students and staff alike. Through a fine balance of teamwork, Asu's hands-on evaluation assessments, ability to draw conclusions and act, refines the proceeds of rewarding results. The Eagle Chamber recognizes the talents of Asu and extends our upmost gratitude for her leadership through her volunteerism.
From Asu Alonso - Eagle Valley Commercial:
"When Michelle Morgan, Executive Director of the Eagle Chamber of Commerce, shared the idea of helping Spanish-speaking members of our community develop computer proficiency, I wanted to be a part of it. I was surprised how quickly the Computer Literacy Program class was full, and, even more, with the long list of students still waiting to participate.
American author Brian Herbert said, 'The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice.' I am so proud of these students for their readiness to take the time to learn a skill that is fundamental in today's world.
The Computer Literacy Program provides access to information and opportunities that otherwise wouldn't be available to them. The Eagle Chamber of Commerce is delivering a necessary service to the Spanish community, helping them grow in our fast technology-based lives." -Asu Alonso, Eagle Valley Commercial
